1)The official name for North Korea is Democratic people’s republic of Korea. (Wikipeda)
2) Kim Jong-il is the leader of North Korea. He has been ruling North Korea since 1994. He was recently elected in 2009 for the head of position. He was born in a secret military camp. Kim il Sung was his father and the first leader. (CIAFactbook)
3) North Korea was separated into two parts after world war ll in 1945. Germany had lost world war ll, Japan bombed us at Pearl Harbor. Japanese use to control Korea but they lost their control over it. This is when America and the Soviet Union took over Korea. They spilt up Korea into two. Soviet Union was in charge of the North and United States the south.
4)North Korea is right near Japan
5) South Korea and Japan border North Korea.
6) The 38th (N Latitude) parallel is the dividing line inbetween North and South Korea. One of the most militerized places in the world.
7) North Korea and South Korea are constantly staring each other down but not fighting each other. They both hate each other.
8) North Korea's side of the DMZ is bad except for the one part people from other parts of the world get to see. Their are fake (fancy) houses for a few miles put up to brag about the greatness of North Korea.
9) The United Stations has a lot of symbathy for them because they have to take all the stuff North Korea gives out. Such as trying to sink ships and throwing shells at them.
10) The major city in North Korea is Pyongyang. It is also their capital and holds about 3,255,388 people.
