Today we "discussed" about India and then we got off topic and started playing music. Pretty fun class.

Today in class we watched the part inthe movie where Jamal found Latika (grown up). His own brother captured her again after hse met with him at the trian station. And the answer to the show was D not B.!

Monday 12/6 - class assignment.

India’s population is around 1,173,108,019. This could be the reason there are so many poor people living in unhealthy conditions.  Some of the poorest people are living in places called shantytowns. In the movie Slum dog Millionaire it shows how many kids are growing up washing themselves and their items in dirty, used water. The water has trash floating around in it and yet the kids still play. This shows how use they are to the unhealthy ways they live.

        The population in a shantytown is about 16,500 people per square mile. This is a rather dense population living under the poor conditions.  In about twenty years the population grew by 18% This is a rather large increase, about sixty percent of Mumbai’s population lives in the slum. That is an estimated 7 million people.

        Bollywood is India’s entertainment capital. Bollywood has produced many movies over the years. Each year there are approx. 2,000 movies being released.  A majority of the movies being produced in India are Musicals or have some singing in them.  Many of the citizens want to live in Bollywood one day and be a part of the movie making business, just like in the United States.

Today we watched some more of SlumDog Millionaire.

1)India's entertianment capital is Bollywood. It is the largest film industry in the world (it produces double the movies than the Unites States).Around 2,000 movies each year a large percent are musicals. They have In the Unites States our main entertainment capital would be Hollywood. America  makes about 600 films a year.

3) a Chai Wallah is a person who makes tea for people.

4) Taj Mahal -
-Is located in Agra, India
-Is a temple that was bult by the Mughals  (Muslim rulers of India)
-Was starting to be built around 1631
-Many tourists each year love to visit the garden and take tours
-It is located on the River bank of Yamuna

-Their mother was killed because of a riot. So Jamal and his brother are on their own.

-Is when people attacked the Muslims.
-around 575 muslims died.
-Hindu's and Muslims were fighting agaisnt each other.
- Some hindu's believe that some Muslims captured their babies to sacrifice them to their God Allah.
- Took a masque of the Muslims and destoryed it.
